The transport sector is a key sector in the development of future energy systems. Transportation represents approximately 25 percent of global energy-related greenhouse gas emissions and roughly 50 percent of global oil consumption. A successful climate and energy strategy requires a change in the transport sector. In the Nordic region there are substantial opportunities for economic growth in this sector.

The Nordic Council of Ministers is now starting a new programme for energy and transport. The overall objective of this programme is to strengthen the Nordic region's role in the development and use of technologies and solutions necessary for sustainable transport in the Nordic region.

In order to clarify the programme's focus and identify good projects, we will consult relevant sectors in the Nordic countries. This will take place as a workshop in each of the Nordic countries, and we invite you to attend.

The final program will be sent out soon, but we ask that you please respond as soon as possible if you have the opportunity to participate. Furthermore, you are welcome to forward this invitation to others who might have an interest or opinion about the project.

Registration for workshops:

Participation is free.

If you have additional questions please contact us.

Sincerely,

Amund Vik
Special Advisor, Nordic Energy Research
Project Manager for Energy & Transport
