VIETAUDIT – Promotion of Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE) in Vietnam through Capacity Building in Energy Auditing

VIETAUDIT is a two years (2008-2009) Finnish Developing Aid Program, which aims to promote Energy Efficiency and use of Renewable Energy in Vietnam in industry, energy and building sectors by capacity building and technology transfer.

The execution of the Vietnamese National Strategic Program on Energy Saving and Effective Use of Energy (NSP) covers all sectors in Vietnam, though the priorities are industrial facilities, buildings and the transport sector. As the NSP is developing, the VIETAUDIT project develops the energy auditing as well as ESCO-schemes in Vietnam, and offers technical assistance to developing facilites.

The Finnish participants in the VIETAUDIT Program are Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) as the coordinator with internal subcontractors Motiva Oy and Finnish Environment Institute SYKE.

Motiva’s responsibilities in the program include capacity building and technology transfer in energy auditing and developing of statistical and reporting systems in transport sector, training of Vietnamese energy audtiors, supervision of demonstration energy audits carried in industrial and commercial enterprices carried out by Finnish expert auditors of Pöyry Energy Ltd and local Vietnamese trainee auditors.

The Vietnamese partners include authorities such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam (Vietnamese co-ordinator), Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and Ministry of Transport of Vietnam, a research organisation Hanoi University of Technology, SMEs RCEE Engineering and AFI Engineering.
