Office Equipment

The electricity consumption of office equipment has grown rapidly with the spread of such equipment. About a third of the energy consumption of offices is taken up by computers and their related devices and another third by lighting. Other office equipment consumes the final third, involving other energy consumption.

Unnecessary electricity use by individual workstations and the related devices connected to them, such as printers and copying machines, results in up to €10 million in extra expenses in the public administration alone.

In the work environment electricity saving measures are grouped into anticipated and use time methods that are incorporated into the running of the workstation environment. It is important that users and IT professionals work together on this.

Electricity saving measures in brief:
  • Procure energy efficient equipment;
  • Use current saving settings effectively;
  • Turn off appliances when they are not in use; and
  • Check if you follow these instructions.
