Old Hydropower Station Museum, Helsinki
This museum is located near the Technical Museum in a district where Helsinki’s first industries sprang up alongside the rapids on the River Vantaa.Water power has been used here since the 1550s, when it was used to turn a millstone.
Environmentally friendly electricity is still produced here today, since Helsingin Energia has recently restored the plant’s hydropower turbine and generator, which were first taken into use in 1911.
