Motiva is a state-owned company dedicated to sustainable development, whose mission is to accelerate society’s transition to sus­tain­ab­il­ity through knowledge, solutions, and cooperation. Motiva Group

Motiva Ltd is a state-owned company and an affiliate of the state administration. Motiva owns (100%) its subsidiaries Motiva Services Ltd and Ympäristömerkintä Suomi Ltd.

  • Motiva Ltd – sustainable development expert services for the state administration and the public sector.
  • Motiva Services Ltd – sustainable development expert services primarily for companies, municipalities, and third sector operators.
  • Ympäristömerkintä Suomi Ltd – administration of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel in Finland.

Our role in government

Motiva Ltd is a company wholly owned by the Finnish state and a stakeholder unit of the government, i.e. an in-house operator. Our task is to provide the government with expert services in sustainable development.

Our government clients can purchase the expert services they need through us without competitive tendering in accordance with the Public Procurement Act. The in-house arrangement is based on Section 15 of the Public Procurement Act, according to which the Act does not apply to purchases made by the state from its own affiliated units.

Responsibility and transparency

We publish an annual corporate responsibility report that describes the social impact of our operations. We also publish a report on the salaries and remuneration of the board and management in accordance with the state’s ownership policy.
