Final Consumption of Energy
Final consumption of energy measures the consumption of final energy products, i.e. fuels used for electricity, district heating and space heating, and transportation fuels and industrial processing fuels. The difference between total and final consumption is lost through transformation and transmission losses of energy.
Final consumption of energy in 2024 (provisional data):
- 994 PJ (276 TWh, 23.7 Mtoe)
- 176 GJ / capita (49.0 MWh / capita, 4.21 toe / capita)
Final consumption of energy in 2023:
- 1 009 PJ (280 TWh, 24.1 Mtoe)
- 180 GJ / capita (50.0 MWh / capita, 4.3 toe / capita)
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, final energy consumption decreased by one and a half percent. Consumption declined across all sectors, with the sharpest drop in transport (2.8 percent). In industry, the decrease was 1.5 percent, in building heating 1.0 percent, and in other uses 0.9 percent.
