According to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, total energy consumption in 2025 amounted to 1,278 petajoules (PJ), which was one per cent less than one year before. The consumption of fossil fuels decreased in all categories. Total electricity consumption increased by two per cent from the year before.

In 2025, consumption of renewable energy totalled 565 petajoule (PJ), which was one per cent more than in the year before.

The combined consumption of fossil fuels and peat amounted to 344 PJ, or eight per cent less than in the year before.

Carbon dioxide emissions from the energy use of fuels amounted to 24.5 million tonnes, which was five per cent less than in the year before.
